Come visit Shore Acres Park in Chillicothe, IL

Located in Chillicothe on the west bank of the Illinois River the park is an excellent place to view wintering Bald Eagles. The focal point of the park is a 19th-century clubhouse which has been placed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The facility can be leased for conferences, retreats, business meetings, weddings, and other events. While in Chillicothe, birders might also visit Moffitt Nature Park, a 32-acre site with picnic tables, a pavilion, and nature trail system. North River Beach Drive follows the river to the south of Chillicothe stretching to Cedar Hills Drive in Rome, part of the original Illinois River Road, it provides visitors an up-close view of the Illinois River. Bald eagles are frequently seen roosting in trees along the road or fishing along the river, with Nellie Jackson Park in Rome being one of the best sites for winter eagles anywhere!
