Northern Leg of the Byway

Marseilles

There is something for every type of camper at Illini State Park. Both tent and trailer sites, including electric and sanitation service, are offered and reservations are available.

Four Star Campground provides diverse camping options with RV sites and tent camping. The campground is brimming with activities like Kids Fishing, Pool Table, and Dart Boards, as well as special events such as Pig Roasts and Golf Cart Parades.

Cozy Corners Campground is a family-owned campground for RVs and tents. It provides picnic tables, showers, firewood and more. For rates and info call (815) 667-4886.

Located on over 50 acres, Pleasant Creek Campground offers a variety of camping experiences including tent camping, RV sites, and cabins. The property features rolling hills, miles of trails and relaxing streams, plus a new wading pond, bathhouse, playground, and general store.

Near Utica / Oglesby

Starved Rock State Park Campground is very popular, and reservations are required – the sooner the better! 133 Class A premium sites available with campfires, toilets, pet-friendly, potable water available, showers, picnic tables, boating, fishing, hiking, paddling, and snow sports.

Near Utica / Oglesby

An equestrian campground for horseback riders and their horses is located at Matthiessen State Park, west of Route 178 between Route 71 and the Dells Area entrance. Sites are first-come, first-serve, no reservations.

West of Spring Valley / DePue

Camping at Hennepin Canal State Park is on a first-come, first-serve basis, no reservations. The canal offers class C (primitive without showers or electricity) only at designated campsites.

South of Princeton

Condit’s Ranch offers spacious, clean, grassy sites from primitive to full hook-ups and can accommodate rigs of almost all sizes. The property has 4 small lakes for shoreline fishing, a swimming lake with sandy beach, and forested hiking / walking trails.

Central Leg of the Byway

Chillicothe

Chillicothe RV & Recreation Area is a members-only RV camping site (no tents). Its 230 acres have three stocked, spring fed lakes, a sandy beach for swimming, plus playgrounds and pavilions for family fun with hiking and biking.

Chillicothe

The Peoria Park District’s Camp Wokanda encompasses over 300 acres of woodland area with a lake for fishing and various camping amenities. Within the Camp there is a dining hall, sleeping cabins, program buildings, and more. Call (309) 579-2157 for more information.

Outside Peoria

Wildlife Prairie Park in Hanna City offers truly unique accommodations including a serene Cabin on the Hill, converted Train Cabooses or Grain Bins, plus 18 primitive campsites. Guests receive FREE admission to the Park during their stay which includes fishing, biking, hiking, kayaking, animal trails, disc golf and more.

Spring Bay

Sankoty Lakes is an adventure retreat offering outdoor recreation and relaxation. It offers cabins, RV Resort and streamside tents.

East Peoria

Carl Spindler Campground & Marina offers 55 paved sites with 50-amp electric and varying combinations of water or sewer hookups, 26 primitive sites with electricity for campers and cabin rentals. Shower and laundry facilities are available to campers along with a shelter, playground, and fire rings.

East Peoria

MillPoint RV Park offers 80 shaded full hookup sites on well-maintained gravel roads, a cluster of cabin rentals, a designated tenting area, and several primitive camping areas.

Southern Leg of the Byway 

Bartonville

Leisure Oaks Park offers full RV hook-ups and tent camping with two lakes for fishing. There are restrooms/showers (handicap accessible), laundry facility, and playground area for the kids. Shaded picnic areas are throughout the park. Call (309) 697-4871.

Canton

Giant Goose Ranch is a hybrid property that combines a campground, sportsman's club, vacation resort, working ranch, and a private recreational farm. With 52 lakes and ponds, the property offers ideal boating, fishing, and swimming opportunities in a picturesque setting. This family-friendly campground boasts numerous amenities, including seasonal RV camping sites and lakefront cabins.

The 250-acre Canton Lake Campground offers 60 RV sites and 15 primitive sites. All sites have water and electrical hook up, except a small area of 5 primitive sites. The Campground also has a shower house building, first aid station, vending machines and a playground. For reservation inquires call (309) 267-1938.

The Fulton County Camping and Recreation Area is made up of 440 acres which includes approximately 150 acres of strip-mined lakes. It is open to the public all year round for fishing and RV/Camper and tent camping.

Rice Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area is tent and trailer camping areas are available. Thirty-two of the sites are graveled and have electricity hookups.

Webb’s Valley View Campground offers full and partial hook ups with fire pits, public restrooms and showers.

Black Sheep Flower Farm is a working flower farm with stellar views of the Illinois River. Stay in a whimsical tiny cabin nestled in the woods, complete with a full-size bed, table, chairs, solar lights, and fan. There's also a separate camping site available with a private fire pit and grill.

Havana

The Havana Riverfront Park Campground has twelve sites located along the Illinois River next to the Havana Nature Center. Water and electricity are provided; a dump station is nearby. Enjoy great fishing from the shore or the docks, boating, hiking, playgrounds, and a Nature Center—all right on-site.

Mackinaw

Kentuckiana Kampground is a family campground with facilities and grounds for your own style of “roughing it” including pull- through, shaded sites with full hook ups or secluded, primitive tent camping in the “holler.” Amenities include two stocked ponds for bank fishing, three playgrounds, plus courts for bocce ball, basketball and shuffleboard.
